Birthday Ideas for Party Food
When mulling over birthday ideas, you will sooner or later need to think about the food you will serve at the party. The most important food item is of course the birthday cake. You can buy a premade birthday cake at most grocery bakeries or you can make your own. If you are planning a themed birthday party you might be able to find a theme shaped cake pan at your local party store. These come in a wide variety of shapes and characters so all you have to do is make a standard cake mix and bake it in the special pan. When the cake is finished add the icing in the correct colors to finish your themed cake. It is a very easy and inexpensive way to have a Big Bird cake or Ariel cake at your party. A birthday cake is not really mandatory however. You could opt for cupcakes or even a giant cookie instead.
Another birthday party staple is ice cream. When it comes to ice cream, everyone has their own favorite flavor but just about everyone also likes vanilla so that is a great choice for your party. The ice cream can be served on top of the cake or as ice cream cones for the kids who don't like cake.
Other birthday ideas for food would include various types of finger foods. Most people are very health conscious today so try to avoid junk food like chips and candy. Instead you can offer grapes, baby carrots, cheese, and deli meat.
If your birthday party is during the summer you might want to have a cookout and grill some hamburgers and hot dogs. How much you need to feed your guests will depend upon the length of the party and activity level. If you have a pool party and the kids spend all afternoon swimming you had better be prepared to feed them a full meal but if your party is only a couple of hours long you may get by with just ice cream and cake.
